Abstract: The fast direct solver based on skeletonization is extended to the method of moments (MoM) solution of volume integral equations (VIE). The impedance matrix is approximated by the hierarchical data sparse representation through skeletonization. The inverse matrix is then implicitly computed. Numerical experiments are conducted to study the performance of the direct solver.
